KITCHEN COORDINATOR

PURPOSE

To plan, shop, prepare and serve meals for Wednesday Night Dinners and Staff Lunches.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan out menus with Special Events Director (SED) for Wednesday night dinners and staff lunches.

  • Create shopping list for each of the menus.

  • Do shopping for some of the food, usually produce, and order the rest of the food through the receptionist. Must ensure food is within expiration dates.

  • Recruit volunteers for Wednesday night dinners and staff lunches. Supervise and work with volunteers during food prep, cooking and serving of meals as well as during clean up time after all meals.

  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, kitchen serving area, refrigerator, freezers, stove, ovens, pantry, dishwasher and sink areas. Not responsible for any of the maintenance on the equipment/deep cleaning of the kitchen.

  • Responsible for weekly laundering and maintaining of the aprons, dish towels and hand towels.

  • Responsible for letting SED and Maintenance know when equipment needs repair work.

  • Responsible for letting receptionist know when cleaning products need to be ordered.

  • Check in weekly with SED.

  • Wash glasses left over from Elder meetings.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Reports to Special Events Director.

CLASSIFICATION - Non exempt, part time. Seasonal employee.

Number of hours per week: Hired for 8 hours a week.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Must agree with and support the CBC statement of belief and mission/values

  • Knowledge of and experience in basic cooking skills

  • Minimum of 1 year large crowd cooking (25+ persons)

  • Able to plan menus and create ingredient list

  • Must possess a vehicle and have a valid driver’s license and insurance, to shop for ingredients.

  • Can do basic math (arithmetic, division, multiplication)

  • Experience with and/or a comfort level in managing volunteers
